Awesome for you if you have enough foresight to write that number down, but for the rest of us... here are some ways to get your IMEI number for the iPhone device you no longer have (presumably because it was stolen):
- If you have the box your iPhone came in, the IMEI number should be written on there.
- Our Decipher Backup Browser program (Macintosh) (Windows) will read the backups made by iTunes on your computer, and extract the IMEI from the backups. You can view the serial number and IMEI number in the free trial version of the program.
We're sorry if you're reading this because your iPhone was stolen. A few people are jerks, and we hope that you find your phone!
What are those online phone tracking sites you speak of?
ReplyDeleteHi Todd,
DeleteWe have not used any of the services ourselves, so I'm hesitant to sound like I'm endorsing any of them. There are sites like http://hackiphone.me/find-my-iphone that will try to see if the phone has been reregistered to a phone number (like the police can as well).
Are you hoping to track a lost/stolen phone, or just looking for location monitoring for an existing phone (much easier)?
or you can just look on iTunes -

The iTunes solution only works if you still have access to your device to plug into your computer, unfortunately, but definitely the easiest way if you do have the phone.

i need to do this, and i've just got the trial version as you say. but now i have no idea how to do it... can you help me, please? thanks
ReplyDeleteHi Ana!
DeleteYes we can definitely help you out! Do you see any entries for your device listed in the left-hand column of the program? If so, click on one of those backups for your phone (any of them should do), and then the very bottom listing in the center column should be "IMEI and Serial Number" -- click that.
Let us know if that helps!
Very helpful! Thanks a lot!!!
DeleteGreat! Glad it worked for you :)
